In an increasingly urbanised and technologised society, people’s direct experiences of nature are rare, with ecological systems perceived as abstract or distant. Meanwhile, climate change continues to intensify global crises, migration, authoritarianism, and economic instability. The first principle of ecology – everything is connected – is the foundation of Ecotones, an exhibition that explores new relationships between humans and the natural world, offering perspectives that examine the potential of reconnection and coexistence with the more-than-human world.
