DJ Logic & Friends: Celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead @ the Mission Theater ("Days Between"

DJ Logic & Friends bring a hybrid live-band and turntablist set to Portland's Mission Theater. Celebrating the 'Days Between' Jerry Garcia tribute, this collaborative show blends jazz, funk, and jam-band energy to honor the Grateful Dead and P-Funk with soulful improvisation and rhythmic grooves.

7pm doors, 8pm show 21 and over DJ Logic & Friends The theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ Logic, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and mixing his sound across the map. As one of the world's most accomplished turntablists, DJ Logic is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip-hop realms and is considered by most as a highly-respected session musician and an innovative bandleader. These performances will be special DJ hybrid shows. Logic is not just spinning. He is performing as part of a collaborative group featuring Lantz Lazwell on guitar, Brian Swislow on keys with an added special element of Starchild Jr of Parliament Funkadelic fame joining on guitar and vocals. The band of seasoned musicians will celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead and P Funk; the energy will feel more like a groove driven jam band set, with Logic using the turntables rhythmically as well as texturally. It sits in a pocket that blends funk, jam, and improvisational energy. "Days Between" Days Between isn't just about Jerry Garcia's birthday – though we do love celebrating birthdays! Instead, it's a 9-day tribute to his entire life. It starts on his birthday, ends on the anniversary of his death, and covers alllllll the days in between the two. Thus, "Days Between."
